Michele Andre is a highly skilled leader in public service who currently serves as the Program Manager of the Albany Community Police Review Board (CPRB) at Albany Law School’s Government Law Center. She has a strong background in City governance and has held key positions in the Corporation Counsel, Common Council, and Office of Audit and Control. Michele brings a wealth of experience to her pivotal position.

In her current role, Michele is responsible for overseeing the daily operations of CPRB, managing the complaint processing procedures, developing comprehensive reports, and providing essential input for formal recommendations to both the Mayor and Albany Common Council. She takes a collaborative approach and has initiated innovative projects such as the Albany Police Department Discipline Matrix, which highlights her commitment to driving positive change, and promoting transparency in law enforcement practices. Michele’s proactive engagement has facilitated improved communication and understanding between the APD and CPRB. Michele has also developed educational presentations that have significantly contributed to the training of new Albany Police Department recruits and officers on CPRB processes.

Michele holds both a Bachelor’s and Master’s degree in Criminal Justice from the State University of New York at Albany. Throughout her career, she has been recognized with accolades for her transformative contributions, reflecting her dedication to public welfare and her unwavering commitment to making a significant impact in her field.

As an active member of the National Association for Civilian Oversight of Law Enforcement (NACOLE) and a Certified Practitioner of Oversight, Michele has leveraged her expertise to participate as a guest speaker in discussions on law enforcement and community relations worldwide. She provides consultation to government agencies and stakeholders, championing the cause of oversight of law enforcement entities.

Michele operates in an apolitical manner, and her deep understanding of City governance enables her to impartially weigh investigative findings and apply rules of evidence.
